Three Days of Education, Excitement and Fun!
Consumer Robotics are robots or robotic technology
purchased by individual buyers (consumers) which educate,
entertain or assist in the home. These products serve the
consumer market in many diverse segments and is typified by
products such as home automation/domestic service robots
(robotic vacuum cleaners and home security robots, for example),
hobbyist/education robots (e.g. Lego Mindstorms) and
entertainment robots (e.g. Sony’s Aibo and Honda’s Asimo).
Intelligent mobile toys from vendors such as Hasbro, Wow Wee
Toys and Bandi, along with those robots that assist the disabled
and elderly in the home, also fall into the personal robotics
category. |

The three day
RoboNexus Consumer and Entertainment Expo
provides a number of special events for the benefit of both the
general public and the suppliers of consumer robotics products

Robby the Robot's
Birthday Bash
Robby the Robot,
star of the science-fiction epic Forbidden Planet, turns
50 this year! Robby, the Robot has remained the most
famous, and adored movie robot of all time. Robby was built in
1955 and made his film debut in 1956 in Forbidden Planet,
Hollywood's first multi-million dollar science-fiction epic. In
Forbidden Planet, Robby starred alongside Leslie Nielson,
Walter Pidgeon and Anne Francis and cost the MGM prop-shop over
$125,000 to construct. In 1957 Robby appeared in his second
motion picture, "The Invisible Boy", starring Philip
Abbott and Richard Eyer. Join Robotics Trends and Fred
Barton Productions in celebrating this momentous occasion Saturday and
Sunday, October 8-9, 2005.

Sony AIBO Wireless Demo
This lighthearted
exhibition, produced by RoboTech Center, will demonstrate the
advanced speech processing, image recognition, synchronized
movement and wireless capabilities of Sony’s AIBO robots. The
Sony Aibo Wireless Demos will take place Friday, Saturday and
Sunday, October 7-9, 2005.

"Hack-A-Sapien"
ContestGot
a great RoboSapien mod or hack? Come to RoboNexus and see how
you match up against some of the best and the brightest in the
RoboSapien community. Even if you do not own a RoboSapien,
come anyway to see what all the excitement is about. The
RoboNexus "Hack-A-Sapien" contest, sponsored by Robotics Trends
and Servo Magazine, will take place both Saturday, October 8 and
Sunday, October 9, 2005. To register, simply bring your
'Sapien to the "Hack-A-Sapien" registration desk at 4:00. Prizes
will and bragging rights will be awarded to to winners.

The
RoboNexus Emerging Robotics Technology
Theater presents a series of presentations on the
expo floor during Friday, Saturday and Sunday, October 7-9,
2005. These presentations feature the latest robotics
applications, technologies and tools. |
