Don't miss a session, same program for both days!

11:15 Webots: Fast Prototyping and Simulation
Software for Mobile Robotics

Dr. Olivier Michel, Founder/CEO, Cyberbotics Ltd.

The Webots mobile robotics simulation software provides you with a rapid prototyping environment for modelling, programming and simulating mobile robots. The included robot libraries enable you to transfer your control programs to many commercially available real mobile robots, including Aibo, LEGO Mindstorms, Khepera and others. This software has been developed since 1996 and was sold to over 200 universities and research centers worldwide. The presentation will include some software demonstrations and simulation movies.

Dr. Oliverie Mechel received a PhD from Nice University (France) in 1996 and worked as a postdoc researcher in LAMI at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne from which he created Cyberbotics in 1998. Cyberbotics developed the Aibo robot simulator for Sony and is now developing Webots which has become a reference software in mobile robot prototyping and simulation used by over 200 universities and research centers worldwide.

12:15 Rogue Blue Educational Robotic System -
21st Century Classroom Robotics

Erik Hagman, President, Rogue Robotics

Become acquainted with the Rogue Blue Educational Robotic System for Grade 11 and 12 education. The Rogue Blue ERS uses the advanced OOPIC processor for 21st century objected oriented education in Basic, C, and Java syntaxes. The Rogue Blue robot base family is expandable and flexible allowing for classroom creativity.

As President of Rogue Robotics, Erik Hagman is leading the delivery of low cost, high quality robotics to educators, researchers, students and hobbyists. Before creating Rogue Robotics, Erik worked in Neural Network design, Avionics software, Animatronic control, and Engineering Management. He has a degree in Psychology (Cognitive Science).

1:15 Roomba Discovery Demo
Colin Angle, CEO/Co-Founder, iRobot Corporation

Mr. Angle will be demonstrating iRobot's their flagship product, Roomba Discovery. This new and exciting robot is the smarter, simpler way to a cleaner home. Roomba Discovery is the second generation of the award winning Roomba Robotic Floorvac line. New features which include an automatic dirt response system, room size sensing, and the innovative self-charging Home Base coupled with best of industry CPR (coverage per room) make Roomba Discovery the next step in the robot revolution. Don’t miss out on this informative and exciting demonstration.

Mr. Angle guides the strategic direction of the company, by applying iRobot core technologies to the commercial sector. His background in both business and technology facilitate his ability to craft strategic relationships with outside firms. Prior to co-founding iRobot in 1992, Mr. Angle was President of Artificial Creatures, Inc, and spent three years at MIT’s Artificial Intelligence Laboratory.

WhiteBox Robotics 912 in Action!
Thomas Burick, President and Founder,
White Box Robotics, Inc.

See White Box Robotics' Newest Consumer Robot - The White Box 912. Tom was the brainchild of the 912, an affordable personal robot powered by an industry standard VIA Mini-ITX mainboard. This mainboard along with other hardware (hard drives, CD-Burners, DVD drives, web cams, etc.) are then installed in the White Box Robotics 912 mobile platform. The end result is an amazingly high-tech, functional mobile robot!

3:15 NorthStar Detector: Localization Solution for the Masses
Joe M. Brown, VP of Robotic Systems, Evolution Robotics

NorthStarTM is a technological breakthrough signifying world-leading advances in localization performance and cost. NorthStar is a photonic technology that enables any electronic product to know exactly where it is in its environment in real time.

Joe M. Brown is Vice President of Robotic Systems; heading up our multidisciplinary product engineering team. Joe brings 15 years of success leading the development of breakthrough industrial color printing technologies, high performance rapid prototyping systems, heart rate monitors, and numerous products in the color office-printer market. Joe holds 5 awarded patents with 8 pending.

4:15 Component Based Robotics Development
Lloyd Spencer, President and CEO, CoroWare, Inc.

CoroWare will discuss and demonstrate how its systems and robotics integration team can help customers integrate off-the-shelf components to build robotics solutions at a fraction of the cost of projects that require specialized parts. Lloyd and his team will be showing an affordable mobile robot powered by a VIA Mini-ITX mainboard, Machine Labs MMP-5 robotic base and other off-the-shelf hardware and software components.

Lloyd has more than 20 years of experience in engineering, marketing and sales, and his technology expertise ranges from distributed network computing to embedded systems development. He has been an active contributor to the robotics community through participation in the Seattle Robotics Society and youth programs such as Washington State and National 4H Technology Programs.
