International Economic

Technology & Trade Mission
Series to Consumer, Educational
and Business Development Event
For Mobile Robotics and
Intelligent Systems
NORTHBORO, MA, AND FRAMINGHAM,
MA, MARCH 2, 2005 -
Robotics Trends and IDG World
Expo today announced that the
Global Emerging Technology
Institute (GETI), a leading
proponent and facilitator of the
commercialization of emerging
technologies that support
university-industry
collaboration, regional economic
development and industrial
growth, has joined the
RoboNexus
Conference and Exposition
as an Association Co-Sponsor.
The conference and exposition
will be held at the San Jose
Convention Center in San Jose,
CA on October 9-11, 2005.
According to Dan Kara,
conference chairman and
President of Robotics Trends,
"We are delighted that the
Global Emerging Technology
Institute is supporting the
RoboNexus
Conference and Exposition
as an Association Co-Sponsor.
GETI’s view of the personal,
service and mobile robotics
market is similar to our own –
it is a young,
business-to-business and
consumer market poised for
extraordinary growth. However,
for this market to reach its
full potential, a good deal of
international collaboration and
cooperation among academic
institutions and businesses is
required. Robotics Trends looks
forward to working with GETI to
leverage the largest robotics
event in the Western Hemisphere
to foster global information
exchange and international
partnerships in the area of
robotics.”
According to Louis Ross,
Managing Director of the Global
Emerging Technology Institute,
“Concerted efforts at
globalization, which have been
supported by the U.S., have led
to the proliferation of
technological advances taking
place throughout the world. As
this trend continues, U.S.
research institutes and the
private sector must gain a
thorough understanding of
development and
commercialization activities
outside of the United States for
key emerging technologies such
as robotics that serve as
important “platforms” that push
innovation, commercialization
and economic growth. This is
especially true for promising
venture companies that will be
required to engage foreign
markets in a much more intense
manner than has been the case in
the past. GETI views the
RoboNexus
Association Co-Sponsorship,
which includes attendance at the
event by a mission consisting of
representatives of leading
European and Japanese companies
and universities, as a unique
opportunity to educate the
attendees and sponsors of
RoboNexus,
themselves leaders within the
robotics and business
communities, about developments
overseas and the significant
market potential that exists for
US firms. We also view the
RoboNexus event as a
great opportunity for European
and Japanese companies to keep
current on the latest robotics
technology and technology
suppliers.”
